When a Customer Needed a Little Reassurance

At the end of each day, I usually check the abandoned carts. Sometimes, customers leave items in their cart at the very last step, and I like to send a polite email to check if they have any questions or need help with their order. Most don’t reply, but I always hope my message might make things a little easier for them.
This morning, I got a reply from a customer in Canada. She had actually left two sets of our ruffled duvet covers in her cart. She said she was hesitant because she couldn’t find any information or reviews about mywinifred.com online and wanted to make sure our website wasn’t a scam.
Honestly, I felt a little happy. Just the fact that she replied meant she was giving us a chance. I explained that we are a small shop, and all orders are securely processed through trusted platforms like Shopify Payments, PayPal, and major credit cards, which offer buyer protection. I also mentioned that we regularly share new products on our social media and could even provide real customer reviews and delivery photos for extra reassurance.
I told her that if she still felt unsure, that was completely okay — she could take her time browsing our website and social media. We’ll still be here, operating and updating as usual.
Not long after, she replied saying she felt much more at ease. It made me smile — communication really matters. If you’re sincere, even across a screen and across the world, people can feel it.
Even if she doesn’t place an order, this little exchange reminded me why I do this work. To all our customers who trust us, thank you. We’ll keep working to provide better products, better service, and a better experience for everyone.
